Hole 1- Par 4

Straightforward drive - long hitters can sometimes reach the green. Beware the hooked tee shot and out of bounds on the left. Green is guarded by two grass bunkers and slopes to the left.

Hole 2 - Par 4.

Again a short par 4 where the green can sometimes be reached by long hitters. A good drive will clear a large dip in the fairway but take care with your approach as there is out of bounds behind the green. The green again slopes to the left and downhill putts can be quite fast.

Hole 3 - Par 4

"Thrombosis hill" . A good drive will finish on the level by the fairway marker post. Three grass bunkers protect the approach to the undulating green -the pot bunker to the left catches the unwary.

Hole 4 - Par 3

Tee shot to a hidden hole. A bell should be rung to indicate that the green is clear. It is good practice to note where the flag is positioned while playing the third hole to give you a chance of getting close on a small flat green. Beware out of bounds behind the green.

Hole 5 - Par 4

Green cannot be seen from the tee. A pushed shot will find a grass bunker or finish in a clump of pine trees. There is out of bounds to the left. Your approach is to a flat green over a fence.

Hole 6 - Par 4

The tee shot is to a distant marker post with fairway bunkers on the left and the right with out of bounds on the far left.. The approach to the green can be the trickiest on the course. It is a plateau green with a steep bank up to the right and down to the left.

Hole 7 - Par 4

A good drive is required off an elevated tee to a narrow landing area. The approach to the green is over the fence and the distance can be deceptive. The green is tiered sloping from back to front.

Hole 8 - Par 4

The stroke one hole. Only the longest hitters can reach this green in two. Again there is a narrow landing area for tee shots followed by a narrow entrance to the green.

Hole 9 - Par 3

Short par three to a sloping green. Club selection can be difficult depending on the strength and the direction of the wind.

Hole 10 - Par 4

Cockermouth Golf Club's signature hole. Hole dog-legs to the left. Big hitters can eliminate this by driving over the out of bounds and finding the green.

Hole 11 - Par 4

Blind drive over a marker post. Any drive to the left of the post runs away down to the left where there is out of bounds. A well-placed drive will finish on the flat ground past the marker post. The green is guarded by grass bunkers and a mound.

Hole 12 - Par 5

Straightforward drive from an elevated tee towards a distant marker post. Long hitters can reach the green in two.

The green is deceptive with a bank at the front and again it is easy to run off the back.

Hole 13 - Par 4

A daunting drive off the medal tee with only a good strike reaching the fairway. The fairway bunker catches many drives and there is out of bounds along the left. The green is cut into a right to left bank with out of bounds close by.

Hole 14 - Par 4

Slight dogleg, but a good drive will find a narrow fairway. Entrance to the small green is narrow.

Hole 15 - Par 3

A deceptive par three with out of bounds behind the hole. The entrance to the green is well guarded.

Hole 16 - Par 4

A psychologically daunting hole. The out of bounds to the left over a wall catches many a mis-hit tee shot. This hole is downhill all the way.

Hole 17 - Par 3

The tee shot is from an elevated tee. Grass bunkers guard the green and there is out of bounds behind and to the sides of the green.

Hole 18 - Par 4

Another dogleg with out of bounds along the left. Again important to hit the fairway with a straightforward approach to a sloping green.
